Another new kitty question

This new little kitty is a bit shy with even us. She didn't have a lot of handling her first few months so it could be part of the reason. She was still nursing, sort of, from her momma even though she's 6-8 months, just because mom was there, I guess. We only just adopted her Saturday so I know it's way early. But our resident cat was ultra confident and friendly right away so we feel sort of "rejected" by her. She doesn't completely hide, she just stays a few steps ahead of us. But when we do manage to hold her, about 1/2 the time she's ok with that and purrs. She does play on the cat tree and with her catnip mice. She eats really well. She likes to sit on my computer chair, it puts her up a little and I know they like to be up high when possible.
Any thoughts on how long it will take to win her trust? What will happen when we finally introduce her to him? Could she end up afraid of ALL of us?

Some cats take longer than others to get used to new people and new surroundings.
It just depends on the cat how long it takes for them to get used to you.
