Sorry this is a little long.
This is my first post on this board. I have two 9 year old Tabby cats who are brothers. I have had them since the day they were born. Their names are Claude and Tegato. Claude is a short-hair and Tegato is a long-hair. They are both Tabbies. Claude showers with us every day. He sits on the front of the bath tub and sticks his head under the shower. He loves to walk around purring while he is soaked. He also insits on being petted dry and will not let myself or my hubby near him with a towel. Does anyone else have a cat that does this or is Claude just strange. It is also interesting how they each have their own personality. Claude likes to sit or lay near us and follows my hubby everywhere. Tegato is a total lap cat only with us. Claude only talks when he wants something. Tegato used to be the quietest cat I have ever been around. I used to also have a grey and white short-hair female named T. She passed away Nov. 03. T was with the boys from the moment they were born. T was the vocal one. Ever since T passed away Tegato runs around meowing randomly. I think he misses T. Also how long does it take for cats to grieve the loss of another cat. The boys have each other so I do not need another cat. Also Claude is territorial and does not get along with other cats.

Hi Tegato73 and *WELCOME* to Cats!
So sorry to hear about T's passing. Yes, Tegato is probably looking for her. Cats definitely grieve the loss of a friend. I'm not really sure for how long, I suppose every cat is different. Just give Tegato some extra love and playtime.
Do you have any pictures of your kitties?

T was a rescued cat that was abandonned. She was left for dead in a friend of mines' pick-up and he called and asked if I would take her after his landlord threatened to evict him since he was in a no pets building. When I first saw T I thought she was a kitten. I was shocked when the vet told me she was a year or two old. T was abused when she was a kitten and quit growing. She was also in really bad shape when I got her. She had a nasty infection in one of her legs. Her leg was so red it looked like she was bleeding. She also had no fur on that leg and a major limp. The vet I took her too wanted to re-break her leg because a broken bone healed wrong. I told the vet I wanted to wait until the infection in her leg was gone. I am glad I waited the limp left with the infection and her hair grew back. She was also so under weight you could almost literaly see her ribs. She would not drink kitten milk or eat any sort of cat food. The vet told me to try meat flavored baby food and it worked. She finally did gain weight but was always tiny. I still miss her terribly even though she passed away a while ago. I guess it's because I feel like I never got to say goodbye to her since she passed away while she was at the vet's office. I am still shocked that I lost her considering the night before she died the vet told me she was getting better. I still blame myself for not noticing something was wrong with her sooner. She quit going to the bathroom and slowly stopped eating. She never much cared for being picked up and was playful when she wanted to be. She loved to lounge on my bed. It is hard to notice your cat stopped going to the bathroom when you have two other cats and the litter box is in the basement. Does one ever really get over loosing a pet?
I hope you'll come back often and share the stories of your kitties.

Hi Tegato73.
It almost seems like since T passed away Tegato decided the house became too quiet. He just loves to talk now. He will sit in my lap and talk to me. He likes to watch baseball games with me. One night my hubby came home from work and asked me how the game was going Tegato started meowing at him before I could answer. He also likes the car commercial for Sabb. He will be sitting in my lap and all of the sudden runs to the end of the couch and meow at the entire commercial. When he started doing this I told me hubby that Tegato wants a Sabb he was laughing. The funny thing is he hates to be in the car.
I recently took in a second cat, his name is Tiger and he's 10 years old. You can see him in the shower if you look at my avitar, that is the picture that shows up near my name on the post..
Anyways Tiger loves taking Showers! He purrs, drinks the water, swats at the falling water, absolutely loves it!!
Funny critters aren't they?
:)
