Are they competing for Alpha Kitty?

Hi again! We still have some issues going on with Cookie and Snowy. Snowy was just up at the food bowl, and he came RUNNING up to it and basically shooed her away, and he chased her under the couch and then just sat there staring her down. She's now hiding under a cart that I have there, but gee whiz this is stressful. There is more than enough food for all of them, so it can't be that.

Cookie won't even do anything other than walking past her and she growls and hisses at him. This is getting crazy and I am almost ready to get on that Cat from H*LL show!

It sure does sound like they are competing to be the Alpha Kitty or that Snowy is letting Cookie know that he is the Alpha Kitty, for now but Cookie isn't giving in.  You are right, it's not about having enough food.  They both may be trying to be the Alpha Kitty and neither is giving up.

I know this can be really stressful for you.  I really don't have any suggestions.  I'm sure you have tried the usual things to get them to just accept each other.  The only other option is just to seperate them and that's pretty hard to do.  Most of the time they will work it out eventually.  I know that this has been going on a long time with them.  Sometimes certain cats just can't seem to get along with each other for some reason or another.

It can be so hard. I am lucky in that while certain cats here don't always get along, they don't do it around food - it is just about being cornered. Can you put up another feeding station somewhere away from the existing one?

The only thing I can think would be to separate them and try to reintroduce them slowly. Something may have happened to have them decide that the other isn't likeable and now they  need to "meet" again.

Keep us posted.
