I am so glad we went to a different vet. I had to wait a little longer than usual, but it was worth it. The other vets we took Bat-girl to acted like, "Duh, why did you bring her here for sores?" But this one looked her over very carefully and actually listened to me. He said it might have just been originally an allergy to her collar. The stuff I thought was puss was actually sawdust!!!! (My parents are remodeling.) He cleaned it really well and tomorrow we are taking her in to have her sedated and shaved. The hair is matting and making it worse, but when he tried to shave her, she jumped up in the air like a kernel of popcorn. So they will keep her tomorrow and aggressively treat it, then send her home with a spray. I am so glad. She looks so awful...we've been calling her "Massive Head Wound Kitty." (Old Saturday Night Live skit...)

Thanks for the positive words!!!

I'm glad you found a thorough vet. Sounds like she'll do better now. The description of her popping up made me laugh. :o) Guess that would be quite a shock! LOL.

I just got a call from the vet, and they said her ears were horribly infected, and that's why she's scratching so badly. So I am upset about the last vet we took her to just two weeks ago. They either missed it, or caused the infection. When the techs cleaned out her ears, they were digging so hard and she got really upset. I have seen techs clean her ears before, and it's a lot more gentle. They were just DIGGING so hard. I wonder if they injured her while they were doing it and caused the infection. Either that or they missed it altogether. I won't be taking here there again.

I believe you do need to stay with the new vet. I use two different vets, they are both good in different areas. I use one for the dogs and both for the cats, depending on the problems. The main reason I use one over the other for the dogs, is the office location. One is set in the country, off the road, and the other is located 3 feet from a BUSY road. If my dog happened to get out of her collar, she wouldn't make it into the vets office alive. It stresses me to even think about carrying her to this vet. I use a carrier with the cats. I'm glad you stayed on the problem until you got it corrected. donna

That is so good that you finally found something to help her!
