Black Cat Appreciation Day

This was yesterday. As you may know, I have a 7 year old black cat named Mozart that is a foster failure. Well, his nails needed a trim and I grabbed him yesterday to do it. In a fit of irony, he decided he didn't need a pawdicure....and bit me (not bad - just scraped off a couple of layers of skin).

Brat....

Yay for black cats!

When I was a teenager, my family took in a two year old black cat to foster.  Her name is Spider.  We took her to the local Petsmart each Saturday for a couple of weeks to be looked at by families for adoption.  Anytime anyone would get near her she'd hiss.  So, we ended up adopting her, and affectionately calling her Spi.  We jokingly call her 'our pity adoption'.

15 years later, my folks still have her.  She's a total sweet and layed back kitty...just wasn't thriled being in a cage at Petsmart.  She gets along great with people as well as her little brother and sister kitties.  She's 17 and still hanging in there.  Not in amazing health (has a thyroid issue  that has caused her to loose a ton of weight), and she walks with a hunch back, but not too bad for an old lady.

Darn, I missed it. That stinker Mozart.   I have my sweet black cat Pumpkin.  She's a bit shy around strangers, but very loving with dh and I.  I'll have to give her some special treats and extra lovin' today to make up missing her day.

Awwww, Chuck is such a handsome boy.  I love the white patch on his chest.

That's a great story about your Spi.  LOL@ your "pity adoption".  I guess it was her way of telling your family that she was in the right home.  My black cat Pumpkin is so sweet too and laid back.
