Blocked Cat...

Hey Everyone,

Just curious...anyone ever had a cat that has been "blocked before?" We just went through this for the first time last week with our little guy. It was SO scary and unnerving! Apparently it is very common (especially with male cats) and can be life threatening if left untreated! We took him as soon as we saw there was something not right with him, thank goodness. He's doing much better now, but recovery time is slow. It was so sad to see him go through this. Just curious if others have dealt with this before...

Thanks!

My Dusty has had urinary issues for awhile. He did block the first time but wasn't totally blocked and didn't have to have the catheter thing done. He was on a bunch of meds to help unblock him and put on prescription diet c/d formula. He hasn't had a reoccurence of crystals since being on prescription diet but just recently had an infection that took 21 days of Clavamox to clear up. Apparently his blockage the first time was due to an infection that provided a good enviroment for them to form. From what I understand its rare to have infections involved but Dusty does.
