Bumpy Scabs and Bald Spots

About a week ago, we noticed that Binx had two bumpy scabs on different areas of his front right leg. Around these scabs, the skin was bald. These formed in a matter of days.

We've been to the vet, who ruled out ringworm, and suggested they were just wounds from wrestling with big brother Skeeter.

Today, we noticed a new sore and bald spot on the left front leg, whose bald spot is bigger than the other two sores (about dime-sized). This had to have happened in the past couple of days.

We've only had Binx about 4 weeks and this has just happened in the last week or so. We adopted him from the local shelter. He had terrible flea bites on his face, but nothing like this. I NEVER see him licking or biting these areas (except when I put Animax ointment), so I'm not sure what they could be.

We feed him Nutro Natural dry and Nutro Max wet for kittens (Chicken and Turkey flavors). We can't afford to take him to the vet again so soon after 2 visits and his neuter, so any help you all could give would be very much appreciated. Thank you so much for reading this.

I think you should take Binx to another vet - ringworm takes 14-21 days, sometimes longer, to show up in a culture. It's the only accurate way to diagnose it for sure. My Tasha fought with ringworm for months and months - and it looks exactly like that - bumby red scabs surrounded by bald spots. Ringworm apparantly doesn't cause irritation though, which could be why Binx isin't scratching.

Let us know what happens.

If he had flea bites when you got him, chances are he may still have some fleas on him - it only takes one flea bite to set off a whole allergic reaction in some animals.

Just curious-my kitty has scabby bumps around her neck, some are smaller, some are bigger. She does not have any balding in those areas and doesn't appear to be scratching. She is eating normally and drinking. She doesn't appear to be in any pain, but sometimes she meows a LOT more than usual (and she has been, but I don't know if it's cuz she misses her auntie, or b/c we were robbed last week or b/c she is by herself a lot during the day (DH and I make sure we pet her and pay attention to her at night after work!).

What do you think--it doesn't sound like ringworm. She has had acne on her chin.
