My cat is very lethargic today. She's been sleeping and won't eat. She acts like she is just really tired. She's been like this before, and she was fine the next day. Is it possible for cats to just have short viruses or sicknesses like humans? Is this normal?

I am sure they can,I would just watch and any others signs of illness you would have to get her checked!

As Chris said, it's important to watch for other signs... litter box habits, eating and drinking, sneezing.

My cats will also act sickly one day then be fine the next every once in awhile. I don't know if they are catching up on their sleep (yeah, right), feel a little under the weather or just have a lazy day.

They may even have problems with hair balls because it's getting between seasons and they are shedding alot.

Well, she hasn't improved, so I'll be taking her to the vet first thing tomorrow. I'll be sure to update you all. It's possible she may have a kidney infection or something like that. I've been giving her water through an eyedropper just to keep her hydrated. She's been really lethargic and she feels warm, like she has a fever. She hasn't eaten in two days. Bless her heart. I'm so worried.

Please be sure and let us know what the vet says.

Sorry I haven't updated this yet- I've been out of town! My cat is feeling fine! The vet couldn't find anything, and said it must have been a virus or something. She could have eaten something bad, and it upset her stomach.

It was very worrisome for awhile, but I'm just glad she is okay!

Thanks for all your advice and kind thoughts.

That's great news. I'm glad whatever it was passed and she is fine now.
