My daughter has been having trouble with the school social worker being too, what's a good word? Um nosey I guess... Well, they say she came to school smelling funny a few times and instead of calling me and asking me to come in and talk about it, they called Child Protective Services to come investgate me. The Child Protective worker, found no problem with me, my house or anything else. Long story short, the school wasn't satisfied, so they decided to call animal control and tell them we had 15 to 20 cats in our house!!!! What nerve!!! Obviously we don't have that many cats. We do have a number of cats, yes. But no where near that many, come on now. The principal admited to me that she herself had made the call. How dare she. Who does she think she is?? How would she feel if I did that to her? The animal control officer, after seeing that, no we did not have that many cats, only asked if their shots were up to date.
That upset me as much, if not more than her calling Child Services. I mean what does my child's school have to do with my cats? Can anyone here tell me who has the right to tell me how many cats are "too many cats"? The principal told me I had "too many cats". I guess she thought it was her job to help me with that "problem"? Some people have no respect at all....

The city of Hamilton, ON, Canada, has a by-law which states no residence can have more than two pets - cat and/or dog. But you can have as many toads, reptiles, rodents, or birds as you want. How much sense does that make! If you ask me, that just encourages pet stores to breed/import more exotic animals, and shelters to euthanize more perfectly healthy cats and dogs. It's asinine.
Other cities put maximums on cats, but not on dogs, and vice versa. These kinds of laws are more common than you might think. Everyone should look into their own municipal laws, cuz you never know!

I know what you mean. When I was growing up, I believe my town had a law that you couldn't have more than 4 dogs. I don't know about cats, as I didn't have cats back then. I still live in the same town, but I think the law changed. At least, I seem to remember my uncle saying something about it (he has 4 dogs), and I can't find the law listed on the city's website.
