Carpet and Cat Urine

I think my cat has urinated in one corner of our den on the carpet. I think this happened while we were on vacation and our cat sitter did not clean the litter box as often as should have been done. The area is dry... but wreaks of the ammonia urine smell.

Any suggestions on how to clean the area and make it smell better?

(To top this off, the carpet has only been in our house for 9 months!)

We used to have a cat who had urinary issues so I unfortunately have lots of experience. Buy some Nature's Miracle or Simple Solution and soak the area well. Let it dry. Depending on how bad it is, you might have to do it again. GL!

Ugh - I agree - Nature's Miracle may be the way to go.

I agree about Nature's Mircacle (or other brand of enzyme based cleaner) but you'll have to really soak it. Remember that urine goes right into the undepad and the wood beneath, so even steam cleaning won't get it. If the Nature's Miracle doesn't work you'll have to actually pull up that corner to get at the under pad and sub floor.

That's too bad your sitter didn't keep the litter box clean.
