Cat got outsde, now acting weird

We have two indoor cats, a male who has been fixed and a female who hasn't. Today the female broke down the screen door and got outside when we were at a movie, and when we got back she was in the front lawn with another cat. She started acting very strange and scared of us, when she is usually a very affectionate cat. We got her inside and now her and our other cat seem to hate each other. She is very scared and he keeps hissing, and she is still scared of us. Right now she is in the bathroom. We have rubbed her with a towel and we are leaving her to groom herself. It's only been an hour since we got her inside. Any thoughts? Or is he just smelling something weird on her and they will get over it?
TIA
Tanya

Cats that are sweet and tame inside and then get out do sometimes growl at you or the other animals because they aren't used to being out. I'm sure things will be fine. She probally smells different right now. As for the spaying, there are discount certificates out there, $35. sometimes less. If on medicaid and other programs you can sometimes get a spay for $10., most vets will also let you pay $5. or $10. a month on your bill if you charge it. I'm sure no one here was trying to insult you. I personally can't take all the meowing etc... a cat in heat does. That alone will make me find a money solution for a spay. Donna
