Cat odors

Hi,

Just moved into a new home and the previous owners had several cats. I found that even though we had the carpets professionally cleaned certain areas in the house still smell of cat urine. Are there any suggestions of what to do for the smell? Would the urine still be in the floor?

Thanks for the help!

Do you have cats of your own? If you do you need to get the smell out or they will pee there too.

Wow! You do mean business, injecting the solution into the carpet! One of my neutered cats was spraying my curtains! I threw them away and bought new, haven't gotten them hung yet, saw something you can spray on them to keep cats away, wonder how that product smells though! Donna

I don't know if the cat repellents work or not or how bad they smell. I wonder if just spraying Feliway once a day if that would work to keep him from spraying your new curtains?

I've never tried feliway because of the cost but I have 3 neutered males that will mark things and the curtains are new and expensive so...Donna

I haven't used that one, but I've used one similar to it, and it didn't work. The cats don't pay any attention to it. It didn't smell very good, but it wasn't that bad either. I didn't see that it was useful though. They'd smell of it, and go there anyway.
That's my experience.

Unfortuately it is very difficult to get rid of. You might try some of these products on this link. http://www.odordestroyer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?AFFIL=trflogic If all else fails pull up the carpet and lysol the floor really well, and lay new carpet. I don't know what else to tell you. I've dealt with it, it's not easy to get rid of, especially if there's alot in one area.
