Cats and wax burners

Does anyone here use wax burners around their cats? I have 4 very large cats and I've been using a wax burner that I have kept on my woodstove for the summer but I am going to have to move it once cool weather sets in. The cats know not to get on the woodstove so it's been pretty safe there but I am worried one of them might knock it over if I put it on a table or counter. Do any of you use a wax burner and do your cats bother it?

I don't have one of those, but I do burn candles. I never leave them unsupervised (ok except for a few minutes here and there). I leave mine up on a cabinet - I have seen more than one stand up to look, but they tend to leave them alone. I guess you could see about getting something to stick it down to keep them from knocking it over.

No way. I don't burn candles or anything like that in my home.  We have some neighbors who had seveal cats and she was putting groceries away and had a candle burning. She was right there and didn't go off and leave it burning.  One of the cats knocked it over and it burnt her house down including her 4 kitties that were inside.  She said the house filled with smoke almost immediately and she and her dh were lucky to have gotten out. It was so sad and it's just not worth taking the chance to me. You just never know what cats will do.

I have 2 of those "Scentsy" plug in wax burners.  It doesn't use much wax, but I have wondered about it and the cats.  I rarely use them, just if I am having company.  The one in the bathroom is not any kind of problem, the cats never go on the countes at all.  The other one I have been careful about where I put it.  KItchen counter area is a good place.    They are nice and pretty and I can use different little scented wax blocks in them.
