cat's compulsive disorder?

Hi, I am very new at this. I have an old cat, her name is JC (Just Cat). she has only been outside twice, once to the vet and once when I moved. I recently have had to take on a second job and now JC has seemed to come up with a compulsive disorder. From the time I come home, until the time I fall asleep, she is at my feet talking and whining until I start scratching her back right at the tail. She then starts washing herself and only stops when I stop scratching. She has started drinking a lot more, but does not seem to go pee that often, but when she does, it is something like me, ha ha, it is a lot or a normal amount. I cannot afford a vet, but I am a little worried. I have now noticed she has small hard black things that look like tiny scabs al over where I scratch. I do not scratch her that hard, so I know it is not me. They are definitely not fleas. Once I was scratching and seemed to have hit a spot that drove her nuts. She stopped washing her front and turned to the spot I had been at and went crazy, trying to wash or whatever she was doing, and was so involved she did not seem to hear me and it was like she was out of control. She eventually fell off the table. This has happened only twice, but I am a little worried. Does anyone think it could be more serious than a compulsive disorder? Like I said she is old, but I am not quite sure how old. I think somewhere between 15 and 18. She is "fixed" and such a good old girl I hate to think she has a major problem I should look into further. Please let me know if someone knows what it could be. thanx

I think you should at least call your vet. She seems to be having some medical issues. The scabs on her back are health related. But only a vet could tell you if they are mental health issues or if she's physically ill.
