Hi! Took my cat to the vets today. He has been sneezing for three days, now has nasal discharge with sneezing. No fever, lungs sound good. The vet said he could have Rhino? some viral infection some feral cats can get and keep off and on. I've never heard of it. She gave him some pink med. to keep other problems away and a antibotic you put in the cats nose, said its actually an eye medicine. Then she suggested my other cats get some 5 in 1 shot to prevent this. Does any of this make sense to you? Thanks. Donna

Thank you so much. I actually understand now. My cat is so much better. His sneezing has almost stopped. I can't believe how much better he is today. Is it the medicine? He was outside alot today, but he is inside for the night. The vet wants him on the nose drops and pink med. for seven days. None of the other cats have gotten this from him. My vet said the shot is $16. per cat, but I could bring mine in and get the "same litter" discount which makes the shot $7. per cat, I have 16. Is this a yearly shot? Again, I thank you for the info. Thats good to know, I'd hate to pay alot every year for the shot if I can do it every 2-3 years instead. Just got one of my dogs the kennel cough shot and parvo shot. She had the 3 parvo shots when she was a puppy, I didn't know they needed it every year. My vets good but doesn't inform you quite enough. I had Casey (aust shep mix) dog in the vets yesterday to have her ears checked. She ended up with an allergy shot (she has ear troubles and chews on her feet)got the parvo booster and kennel cough shot. She was happy in the waiting room and then was in the exam room, a pit bull with a terrible cough walked by and then Casey turned ugly. She had a stare and low growl going on when the vet walked in, I had to muzzle her, then when I was paying her fee, Casey looked at an old man who had come in and did the low growl again. I don't know if the pit got her mad or if its a "man" thing. She does pretty good at home, there are a couple of men (power co. man and one man giving me an estimate on metal roofing) that she was ugly to. I posted this to someone yesterday. Whatever mixed breed she is, you have to keep a firm hand on her or she will try to be the boss. She is 2 yrs. old this month. Donna

I'm glad your cat is feeling better today! You're such a good furmom. I hope Casey's ears get better too. She's the same age as my Misha. We're celebrating Misha turning 2 this weekend since we know she was born in Nov or Dec.

Hugs,

Casey has stopped chewing on her feet and her ears seem much better. I believe the allergy shot helped her. Its a monthly thing, but I think I'll wait until I think she needs it before going back since she was ugly her last visit. On another note, Friday Copper as you know was diagnosed with possible rhino?, a viral infection. He was better overnight. Then yesterday Hunter was diagnosed with fever and pneumonia. He is on a shot each day for 4 days. Now 10 of my other cats are sneezing, coughing etc. kind of like Copper did. They are eating etc., I have them on the pink med. just for secondary infection protection. Can you believe it? And its raining outside, they are having a fit to go outside. I am posting this somewhere else also. It sure worries me. Donna
