Cleaning Dander from Clothes

I recently found out (after a skin test with my allergist) that I am severely allergic to cats. Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I recently moved in together with his cat.
My question is this: in order to get cat dander off my clothes, is it necessary to clean the clothes in super-hot water? This is what I have read in various articles. Today I wore a jacket which was previously covered in cat hair (the cat slept on it) but I had it dry-cleaned before I wore it today. Nevertheless, I ended up having a pretty bad asthma attack. Of course, dry-cleaning is really just spraying chemicals. Do my clothes need to be washed in hot water to get rid of the dander?
