A couple of more questions...

This is just a semi-weird cat behavior question. When I let Amber in my dad's house and the heats running, she likes to sit on the vent. LOL Anyone else's cat(s) do this? I always make her move cause the vent is metal and can pretty hot. But she LOVES the heat.

I bought Amber some cat treats cause she kind of gets left out in terms of treats. I was wondering how many I am supposed to give her. I average about 5. Is that too much or something? She doesn't get the all the time. I sometimes give her treats twice while I'm out there, but that's it cause tubby Amber also MUST have food in her dish at all times which she munches on if she's in the garage.

To give a little tiny update, I am currently researching my allergies options and will be talking to my doctor tomorrow about them. My dad is going to have to retire within two years and he will probably sell his house and travel. This leaves Amber without a home and I simply can't bear to give her up, so even if I have to be sick all the time, she will be living with me and she'll be indoors. That's going to be a HUGE adjustment for both of us. LOL The truth is that I don't trust anyone else to take care of my baby. I mean, if I found out she was not being taken care of very good, I would feel so bad and guilty and I know she'd want to be with me. This won't go over well with either of my parents, but I'm determined. So for the next two years, I'll probably be trying out medicines, etc.

My Abby used to sit on the vent too. I thought it looked uncomfortable--metal slats under her butt. LOL. I have a kerosene heater. My cats will lie in front of it & get so hot they're hot to the touch. Kitties love heat!

Good luck w/the allergy meds.

Many allergic people do live with cats. I think they vacuum alot and have a minimal amount of carpets or upholstered things that can attract fur. Your own diet can make a difference too. Anitra Frazier's book, "The Natural Cat" talks about how she helped some allergic people by suggesting they avoid dairy and fried foods and take vitamins. She had some other advice, but it worked. I'd also recommend posting your questions on Think Like a Cat board. Some people there have allergies and cats and have posted about it. The link is http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-ptthinkcat .
