A few questions...

Hi there! I've got a cat who's about 9 months old and who just recently moved with my fiance and I from a house with 6 people and 7 animals to an apartment with just my fiance and I, with no other animals. I know she's still young and therefore very active and playful, but there are a few things I need help with in training her, and I was wondering if anyone here could help me...

First of all, she was litter trained before we moved here, only using a different place when her litter box became too dirty for her, but as soon as we got here, she's been using our couch as a litter box once a night. I know her litter box isn't too dirty because I make sure it's okay, and she uses it at all other times. I've tried just about everything I can think of, and it doesn't help, she keeps doing this. I wouldn't be worried, but the couch is really hard to clean and we can't get the smell of cat pee out of the cushions. We're living on a student budget so we can't afford really expensive cleaners and such, but we've tried what we can afford and it doesn't work. We're getting kind of tired of sitting on a couch that the cat has obviously used... any ideas?

Also, she has this weird tendancy to jump onto our bed at night and pounce, claw, and bite at my feet. At first it didn't bother me so much because she wasn't hurting me, so I just got her to stop and that was that. Recently, though, she's been really hurting me, biting down really hard, and she'll start doing it as soon as I try to get back to sleep. It's gotten to the point where I would just close my door at night so we could both get better sleep, but I know she'd sit at the door and cry to be let in because she likes to sleep under our bed. Any ideas on how to get her to stop biting and clawing at my feet at 3am?

Sorry for the long post, I really do love my kitty to death, but I really can't put up with these two little habits and I'm desperate to cure her of them so I can stop being irritated at her at least twice a day.
