Fleas!!

My cat has recently been diagnosed with fleas. She's a strictly indoor cat and I never saw the need for flea prevention, but we brought her up to the cabin a bit ago and although she's been up there a bunch of times with no problems she someone got fleas on her last visit.

She's on Advantage now which seems to be helping, she's not itching as much and is generally happier.

I've sprayed down all couches, chairs, area rugs etc with an insecticide/growth inhibitor (Premise 2000 with Precor) and have been dusting, sweeping, swiffering a lot more than usual to help with damage control.

I still do have a few questions though:

We have all hardwood floors with the exception of a few hall/area rugs. I've treated them with the spray which says it kills adult and larvae and protects against larvae for 7 months... is this killing eggs as well? If not, is there anything I can treat the carpets, couch, chairs, etc with?

Do fleas (not on my cat) just live/breed in carpet, upolstry, drapes, etc or can they hang out in baseboard corners and other non-fabric places? Should I be treating my floors and baseboards as well.

Is there any other cleaning/prevention I can do to cut down their population? My vet said I really don't have to stress over environmental control too much besides some vacuuming and stuff because the Advantage will kill adults that bite her before they can lay more eggs... and as new ones hatch they'll die as well. But the way I figure it the more I can kill before they hatch, the less that will be biting her.

We're moving in 4 months so I'd like to do all I can to eliminate them and their eggs before the move and cut down the amount of eggs that come over so I can potentially reduce another infestation.

Does steam cleaning the furniture and rugs help?

Thanks for any advice. The idea of tons of little fleas running around is driving me nuts and I want to do all I can for my cat and my own peace of mind.

I would do what the vet said, you have some good ?? and I would be interested also. I think they die when they fall off a body. I use the drops you put on their back once a month and it should kill eggs as well.
