Dh and I bought an artificial Christmas tree last night (I was in NO way going to buy a real one with a kitten in this house)... good thing - it's been up a total of 10 minutes and I've had to take him (Timmy)

ROFL I never thought about Christmas tree problems. I think I've heard of having to keep the oranments off the bottom branches due to kitties. But I've never heard of a cat actually climbing one much less a FAKE one. lol Hopefully, he learns very soon that he can't climb the Christmas tree.

MANNY YEARS AGO WHEN TOY WAS YOUNG I HAD 2 OTHER KITTENS THAT WERE THE SAME AGE. I HAD A FAKE TREE AND THEY CLIMBED IT AND TORE IT APART. I THEM GOT A SMALL TREE FOR THE TABLE AND WOULD HIDE IT WHEN WE WERE NOT THERE. WE HAD A GREAT TIME WITH THEM THAT YEAR TOY IS NOW 25 AND PAYS NO ATTENTION TO THE TREE I LOST THE OTHER 2 CATS AT A YOUNG AGE TO LUEKIMEA. I DO HAVE A HOUSE FULL BUT MY YOUNGEST IS 3 SO EVERONE JUST LOOKS BUT LEAVES IT ALONE. IT WAS SEVERAL YEARS BEFORE I COULD LEAVE MY TREE OUT ALL THE TIME BUT IT SURE WAS FUN. I ALWAYS SAID I WOULD LIKE TO HANG IT FROM THE CELING HAVE FUN. JOANN

i don't know if this is feasible for you but my mom once told me about what she had to do in a similar situation.

Am old roommate and I had to put a giant cardboard barrier around the tree at night, and whenever we weren't home, because her little kitten kept climbing the dang thing! Oh, and batting at ornaments, chewing the branches, not to mention the lights.....

LOL. I'm so glad Tasha didn't touch our tree last year. But she was still adjusting to her new home... maybe this year will be different. :)

Oh no! lol That has to be frustrating! I'm so glad mine leave ours alone, although they do like to play in the tree skirt.

Haha, that is so funny! That's why we decided not to do a tree this year! With two under a year old kitties and a year old pit bull mix that chews EVERYTHING in sight...it would be such a disaster!!! Good luck!

Hi Cat,

I have given up on Christmas trees for that very reason...and it isn't my kitten climbing the tree...it's my now 9y/o!

LOL...fortunately Boo Boo (nicknamed Boo-da) who is 14 lbs doesn't have an obsession with the tree.
