Basically, all she wants to do is be held and my attention......which I do play with her etc....but it doesent work to well when im not home and my mom is left to deal with her....my mom has a bad back...so she cant really pet her... My mom will squirt her with a water pistol....which sometimes works..as for her weight....she will only eat a certain type of dry food......I think 9 out of 10 times...she will eat it when shes bored.....and because its there......I can normally tell when she runs out......cause she will cry, and be nasty.......

First of all, I would have your mom quit spraying her with water. It could be why your cat is crying at you. You are her "mommy" and someone is doing something she doesn't like and you are the only one who can make it stop. She might also be crying cause she *is* bored. There are lots of toys you can get that should keep her interested with minimal human interaction needed. I'm thinking of those mice on the bungee cords that you can attach to door knobs or door frames.

As for the food issue, it's recommend that when you change foods for pets, you should start by mixing a little in with the regular and gradually increasing the new food amount while decreasing the old food amount until your pet starts to eat the new food really well. Your vet would also have good ideas for getting your cat to lose weight and also might be able to suggest more reasons for why she's crying so much. I've also read suggestions of putting the food away after the pet is done eating instead of leaving it sit out all day. Like, feed her when you first get up and let her eat until you leave for work and then put it away in a cabinet or some other place she can't get to. Then get it out again once you get home. She won't like this in the beginning, but it might be what you need to do to keep her from eating all day or when she's bored.

My cat is extremely vocal and we have conversations sometimes. Naturally, I have no idea what she's trying to tell me, but if I keep replying back with "that's so" and "really", she keeps talking. lol Also, she likes to "vent" her "problems" to me and my dad as soon as I arrive out there or as soon as my dad gets home from work. (I don't live with my dad and cat.) Then she quiets down unless there's something wrong or something happens that she doesn't like.
