Maestro sounds hyperthyroid to me... classic symptoms - weight loss, vomiting and his age is a sure sign.

no, that's a separate test and yes it's a pill (in most cases, there is the cream that can be put on the inside of the ear flap and the pills can be compounded into a liquid as well). Once he is on the medication, bloodwork needs to be monitored periodically to check kidney function and a cbc to make sure the white blood cells are staying normal (sometimes the medication can deplete the WBC).
