So much is happening with my furkids lately I don't know where to begin. My big concern tonight is Gracie. She's nearly 11 months old and she weighs less than 4.6 pounds. I know Burmese are small cats but this is smaller than she should be. She's never been a big eater, but she used to always eat off Misha's plate when she was eating. Lately she's been sleeping a lot and only eats a few kibbles and walks away from her plate. I've tried various dry and wet foods with minimal success. I can feel her bones when I pet her. She seems to want to lay on me or under the blanket for extra wamth lately. I took her to the vet last Wednesday and she weighed 4.6 then....today at home she weighed 4.3 or so. I know she's losing weight. :-( The vet wanted to see her again tomorrow at 4. I am thinking of taking her in early at 8 and leaving her with the vet all day so she can do a thorough physical and run any tests necessary to determine if she has anything physically wrong that could be causing her to not eat. I am so worried about her and I wish I knew what to do. Misha has her own issues. She is ocassionally throwing up after eating so I have tried various foods thinking she may have some allergy. The vet saw Misha last week and suggested she might have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) since she has licked and scratched at herself and caused some fur loss on her tummy & back paws. I don't know if that is from stress (we still keep the 3 older cats separated from Misha & Gracie because they are aggressive toward them)? I have seen her "scoot" once and so I wonder if allergies could be part of it. I wish I knew! I've tried Rescue Remedy with minimal success. The vet suggested giving her an antidepressant. I feel so bad that my 5 girls can't be happy & healthy lately. And as I mentioned some weeks back, my chinchilla Gandalf also won't eat on his own since his dental surgery. I have to hand feed him thru a syringe. He's losing weight too. Since my vet here doesn't seem to know what to do I am going to take him to another vet an hour away who has done tooth extractions on chins before. The x-rays show he has a root growing through his jaw bone that could be causing pain and therefore preventing him from eating.
Whew! So much to deal with, but I love them all and wouldn't trade them for the world. I appreciate any prayers you could spare for Gracie tomorrow and for Gandalf & the rest of my furry crew. :-)

Hi Suzy,
Honestly, we have not seen any Burmese in our practice!
How interesting!
Boo Boo doesn't take anything for the OCD, I did once take home some valium for "just in case" times (he used to be bad during house parties here, even if we kept him in our bedroom) but I never needed to give it to him.
