Guess What I Did?

I went to a cat show today and saw my vet there. I told her that my 3 older cats just won't accept or play with Misha. She said she knew an excellent Burmese breeder there that she herself bought a kitten from this past year. She said her cats were very loving and healthy. I went to see her two female kittens who were 4 1/2 months old. One of them was particularly gentle & sweet and let me hold her for a long time. My vet explained that maybe Misha would be accepted by a kitten with a similar energy level to hers. They could play together & snuggle and then she wouldn't keep trying to bother the older cats for attention. She said if it doesn't work out, I can always return the kitten to the breeder. It was expensive ($500....ouch!) but I took a risk and bought her. She is a Platinum Burmese. She is very playful and active. I am letting her sleep with us tonight so she can feel comfortable and not too lonely in her new environment. I tried putting her in a carrier so Misha could come sniff her. Misha seemed to like her, but the kitten just growled & hissed. Sheesh! I will take it slow and try to let them sniff each other like that for short sessions over the next days. If they get along I will be thrilled. If they don't, I'm prepared to return the kitten so she can find a better home, and Misha can just go back to being on her own. I really hope this works! Misha needs a friend.

I never considered Burmese before because I didn't want a cat with a flat face, but this kitten has a more normal face & nose and is therefore "pet quality" instead of "show quality". It doesn't matter to me a bit, and I think she'll have less eye/nose problems that way.

Here's a photo. She moves around so fast I couldn't get many in-focus pictures of her. LOL

Hugs,

Suzy

Thank you Pink & Gwen! :-)

Misha & the kitten have good times when Misha is playing "mommy" to her and cleaning her, and then they'll give each other the "death grip" and wrestle. LOL

She is beautiful. Give them time. Being young, they will probally love each other, it may take a week or so. I've had to introduce 3 new kittens gotten in May, July and August, to each other and my other cats. Its been interesting. And it has worked out. Two of my female cats I adopted a year ago have adopted the feral kitten. He is about 12 weeks old now, trapped him 4th of July week, I can't pet him yet, he runs around the house like a little rat, the two females were both bathing him at the same time yesterday. He is spoilt rotten. I haven't seen you post lately or I've been on other pet posts. One of the other kittens I've ended up with was adopted from a shelter by people I know, they then moved and couldn't take the kitten. She is pure white. Her name from the shelter is Mesha. Reminds me of your cat. donna

Hi Donna!

Thank you....I am relieved to hear you've had such good luck with your kittens! Your Mesha sounds beautiful! I hope I'm doing the right thing. At least the kitten allows Misha to groom her, whereas Boots (the nearly 7 year old) gets mad at her when she tries to lick her. LOL

This Burmese is so sweet. I wish I hadn't tried to introduce her to my parents' dog yesterday....she freaked out and really scratched me good!

Now if I could just think of a good name....

Suzy :-)
