HELP!!! Fighting cat & new baby kitten

I've adopted a new kitten from the Humane Society. His name is Buddy. My other cat, Baby Girl is five years old. She is not a happy camper and I'm about to lose my mind. At fist BG only hissed at the Buddy. Now she is making gutteral, horrible noises I've never heard in my life and jumping Buddy. Buddy is a bit of a punk in that he stalks BG and jumps out of nowhere at her. He kind of messes with her a bit. How long does this go on, do you think Baby Girl will hurt the baby? I'm so stressed out, its been five days of this constant conflict. Can anyone give me any advice on this???

Thanks in advance :-)

Thank you all for your suggestions and your support. Funny thing happened last night. I left the two of them to themselves as suggested in "Introduction". Just for about 10 minutes....they seemed to only be hissing at each other so I decided to leave for a bit. When I returned to the house they were lying on the floor about 2 feet apart and both looked pretty relaxed. Baby Girl Had a spitting growling fit this morning, but I am encouraged that they will be friends eventually. In fact, Buddy (the baby) messes with BG, stalking and jumping her and now BG is returning the gesture in like fashion. What a goof. I think my Baby Girl is young enough (5 yrs.) to still want to play and she loves to be played with, and it seems she's realizing, hey, this could be fun having a Buddy to play with. Cautiously optimistic at this point. Again, thank you all. What a great resource....Have a safe and happy labor day weekend.
