I have two wonderful kitties, but I need help figuring out ways to teach them two things -- not to scratch furniture and not to get on the dining room table.
We just moved to a new apartment (and in with my boyfriend, who has rapidly gone from not thinking he'd ever own a cat to becoming a total cat person. He even calls me to tell me about cute things the cats did!). Anyway, I bought them new scratching posts and bought a spray called "No Scratch" which I sprayed all over the furniture. I also bought Sticky Paws, which I used, but they're so small -- I can't cover the whole couch with them. We also got a dining room table and the cats think that is just the greatest -- they love jumping up on it and plonking themselves down for a good nap.
Unfortunately, my job right now is VERY crazy and I can't be home with a spray bottle all the time, and I don't want them to learn that they just shouldn't scratch and get on the table when I'm at home. I'm trying to find more things like "No Scratch" and Sticky Paws which will help my cats form negative associations with scratching furniture and with getting on the table. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
Abigail
