Hello everyone!

I've been deciding about adopting another cat. I have decided that I don't want another adult cat. I want to adopt a kitten. I know they are a great responsibility and take up alot of time. Right now I have alot of time on my hands and would love to have another kitten. My neighbor's cat just had kittens 8 days ago. I went over tonight and I saw them. They are very cute, just opened their eyes. There are 6 of them but 1 is definately spoken for. The problem is I contacted 2 people about cats that they have. I just don't know how to explain to them both that I changed my mind. I don't want to say it the wrong way. I never told either of them I was for sure going to adopt them so it's not like I am breaking a contract. How would I go about this? What do I say to them without hurting their feelings? Any help is greatly apperciated.

Michelle,

Just be honest with them. Explain what you just posted here about wanting a kitten. I don't see how you could hurt anyone's feelings by telling them that.

Good luck,

Laurie,

Thank You for helping me. I will just explain to them that I really want a kitten instead of a cat and hope there are no hard feelings. :)

When I adopted Misha, I was in a similar predicament. I went to the Humane Society to adopt a specific 8 month old kitten. While they were filling out the necessary papers for the adoption, I saw Misha. It was love at first sight, and I simply told the folks at the Humane Society, that I changed my mind and that I wanted to adopt Misha. There was no problem, they simply started new paper work and I adopted a very cute, independent, strong willed calico.

If I were you, I would simply let the other folks know that you have changed your mind and that you are adopting a kitten instead of an adult cat. In my experience, most people appreciate honesty.

I hope this is helpful.
