How to catch feral kittens?

From what people are saying at my work, it sounds like we've got a litter of kittens in our yard. Note that this is an industrial yard - a fenced, outdoor extension of our warehouse. It is FULL of places for little kitties to hide. A few people have only caught glimpses of them, and a couple of people have brought in food, which BTW the kitties are eating.

I'm just wondering how to go about catching them? They won't let anyone near them, of course, because they are ferals. It's not like I can sit out there and watch for them, because I have to work. I just feel so bad for them - the cold, wet weather is coming soon, and besides that, the yard is a very dangerous place, what with forklifts, trucks, and other traffic. Anyone have any ideas?

The younger they are caught the more likely they can become domesticated and placed into homes... I suggest calling the local humane society or a shelter in the area and see if they will loan you a humane trap - you put food in the trap and if a kitten goes in, the door closes and they cannot get out.

Please see if you can get some traps and catch them!

I've done this. Like the others said, get a live animal trap. I think I used an open can of tuna fish as bait. It's nice and stinky--they'll come running. Put the trap somewhere out of the way, but where someone can hear when they trigger it. That way they can be dealt with immediately. You don't want them to hurt themselves trying to get out.

I got lucky and caught 3 kittens at once. When they are young, they hang together. Good luck!
