Dylan is a great cat, and he took to me right away, like he just KNEW I was meant to be his meowmee.

When I'm sitting down, particularly when I'm trying to eat my dinner, he will jump onto my back and hug me around the neck, put his head on my shoulder and purr.

sigh.....sorry, got distracted by the retirement comment (congrats by the way)

Mozart is like that as well - not so much when I am eating, but just feels the need to be on top of me sometimes. For him, it is best if it is 95 degrees and he has baking in the sun for a while....why the black cat feels the need to bake like a potato I will never understand. And then the need to share....sheesh

I agree - feeding him his dinner or a special treat while you eat will help. Or he gets a time out. I have had to do this with groups of fosters....they just don't get it and I like to eat without help, thanks. :)

Reminds me of something my mom would talk about. She has one that is beyond clingy when she is home. In about the same annoying way as your Dylan.
Nothing she has done has been able to keep him from doing what he does. She just tolerates it when she can and moves him (repeatedly) when she cant. Some cats dont want to be bothered and others cant get enough, lol
