Hi everyone, it's been a while since I posted. I do lurk occasionally. This time is special and I have to brag about Mikey "The Brat". For the second time in two years Mikey was the best Maine Coon in Premiership at the Maine Coon Cat Club show in Springfield NJ a couple of weeks ago. He is basically retired but had to come out to defend his title, and he did with style. I am attaching a picture of the award ceremony.

Ummm... Are you going to explain the rest of the pic? I thought cat shows were serious affairs. Looks like somebody's having TOO much fun! LOL.

Hi Katz,
We have more fun than you might think.
Every show has a theme, our's this year was tropics, I dressed in a Mau Mau (moomoo) on Saturday complete with the sandals and lai. We have a good time and there is some consumption of inebriating beverages on occasion. Some clubs are very straight laced and proper, the MCCC is in it for the fun and comradery. We have decided that the cats and people are the most important thing, after all "It's only a cat show". At the end of the day we are still friends and the cats are still our pets. Winning is great but in my opinion is second to how you win. Winning at the cost of the cat or a friend is not winning at all. Maybe that's why I don't win more often but I don't care.
You should really attend a show, it looks like a Chinese fire drill. Check out http://www.cfa.org for show schedules.

I couldn't get the schedule to open. But I have seen ads for Cat Fancier shows before. I always figured they'd be dull, serious affairs, like I picture a dog show to be. Shows what little I know! LOL. I'll definitely keep an eye out for CFA shows in the future. And I'll try again to open the schedule.
