Kitten poops but won't pee in litterbox

One week ago today we brought Bob home from the shelter. Our new all white, 12 week old kitten had a horrible cold and coccidia (poop parasite from shelter.) He is on antibiotics for the cold and another drug for the coccidia. I think the coccidia drug makes his poop work overtime to get rid of the parasite, because there are between 3 to 6 poop balls a day. And I scoop his box twice a day. Both of these things (cold and coccidia) are getting much, much better because he has fattened up and is playing all the time (when he isn't sleeping).

I have another cat (3 year old female named Trixie) who has been kept separate from Bob this whole week and for another week until he is no longer contagious.

Although Bob has no problem using the litter box for poop, he has taken to peeing on the feather mattress which is on the bed in his room. Just so you know, in his room, he has a kitty bed, food, water, many interactive toys, litter, and scratching post.

Please tell me how to teach my boy how to pee in the litter box and that he must do that always. Next Friday, we are going to let him out into the house and I don't want him thinking he can pee everywhere. I have never had to teach a cat to use the litter box, they always just seem to know. Bob is a wonderful, wonderful baby kitty who we love very much and this is our only problem. I will do whatever this board tells me to do to handle this.

Thank you,

Kathryn, Serge, Trixie and Bob

I agree with Les,you should have the urine tested and maybe that would be it! Let us know,I think you can try and catcha sample and bring it in as it is cheaper
