I understand that there will always be pure breds and even if there were only mutts or 'moggies' as you put it then someone would start selectivly breeding all over again. It is exactly for this reason that I say that breeding should be left to the experienced breeders or those guided by the experienced and who are dedicated to trying to improve the breeds that currently exist.

I think that beyond conformation shows, the working dogs should also go through working dog trials before they are bred. I know that in some dogs this is the case but all too often we breed for looks which produces animals like the Cocker Spaniel which can no longer do its intended job. Breeding only being done by the experienced would also cut down on the temperment problems. I do realize that alot, even most, of these problems are due to how the animals are kept and raised but in part they are also due to bad breeding.

I can completly understand your desire to have a seal point Siamese. When I had my English Lop bunny I completly fell in love with that particular breed of rabbit. Even though I protest the breeding of pure bred animals I can honestly see myself getting another one of these rabbits 10 or 12 years down the road when my current rabbit dies. I cannot at this point in time say wether or not it will actually happen but I know that I cannot say for sure that I will not get another pure bred English Lop rabbit. If I am lucky the woman who bred and gave me my lop will still be breeding them and I won't even have to hunt for a quality breeder the way I am doing for my Ausie.

Well....I'm ambivalent about breeding.
