Leaving my kitty for 2 weeks!

DBF and I are leaving for 2 weeks on Saturday - I've been looking forward to this trip for almost 2 years now (long story), and I am incredibly excited, but I am not happy about leaving my Tasha for that long!

My friend's parents are coming to town 2 days after we leave, so they will be using our apartment - they get a free place to stay, and Tasha gets fed and at least has company. She takes well to strangers, so I don't see that being a problem, but I hope she doesn't feel like we abandoned her! She was left at the shelter and changed homes only 8 months ago - I'm so worried that that abandonned feeling will still be fresh in her mind! What's she going to think with us gone for that long? At least she is staying home, but still..... Someone please reassure me!

How sweet you are to worry about your babies feeling. I would say she will be just fine. Atleast she is in the comfort of her own home. Maybe you could leave her with a t-shirt or something you have worn (with your smell), where ever she usually sleeps. Then she will atleast have that to comfort her.

I worry too about my babies when we have to leave. They do fine, but they always let me know about it when I get home..LOL! I get a meow-a-thon soon as we drive up! LOL! They do better everytime we go though. They know we are coming back. ^..^

Good luck!

Thanks everybody... I feel a little better! The plus side of this is that I get to see my old dog, who my sister has right now, and my old high school cat, who my mom has! I haven't seen either in 3 years, since I moved out here... I wonder if they will remember me. And of course I get to see my mom and sister, LOL! I'll have plenty to keep my mind off poor Tasha, what with everything we have planned to do. I just hope she'll be okay for those first couple of days before my friend's parents come - my friend will be feeding her of course, but she obviously won't spend the night. I'll ask her to keep my bedroom door open for her so she can at least go in and sleep on the bed.

*sigh* One more work day left!!

I am sure your sweet Tasha will be ok....I agree with everyone that having your scent and being in her familiar home will make all the difference. Your are such an awesome furmom and I'm sure she'll give you a "meow fest" upon your return, but will never forget or stop loving you. :-) Enjoy your trip together....you deserve it!
