Just wondering, what type of litter does everybody use? Have you tried various types or brands? Why did you choose the one that you use now? Does the cat(s) seem to care? Any pros or cons or other observations?

I like Arm and Hammer clumping litter products the best.  I used to use Ever Clean, I think it is, because it clumps so well, but it's really bad for tracking.  I don't think the cats really care very much as long as it's clean. I have used both scented and unscented and it doesn't seem to matter to the cats.   The only ones they don't seem to like are the pelleted litters and Sweat Scoop that was really light.  It seemed like it was a bit like sawdust and lightweight and they tipped the litter box over a couple of times getting in and out of it.

I use Tidy Cat for multiple cats and my cats don't seem to mind it. I tried the Arm and Hammer scoopable but it smelled so bad after just a few days I went back to the Tidy Cat.

I am lucky in that mine don't seem to care. :)  Not every family can get away with that. I have used A&H, Tidy Cat. I now use the Petco brand...I buy their container and get $1 off the price to refill it. No more big plastic containers to recycle and it is a little cheaper.

I get ScoopAway, mainly because that's what they sell at my local Costco in huge bags and I can stock up when they have a coupon for $2.50 off. It doesn't have much fragrance which I like. Once I got a smaller package of it at another store and it was scented, kind of a lavender scent but really strong smelling to me so I can't imagine how strong it smelled to the cat. I don't like how much dust the Scoop Away puts out. The box is in my office and there's always gray dust on everything.

I've thought about trying other types of litter but the price always makes me stay with the one I have.

I use the Safeway brand... Priority Multi-Cat formula scoopable ... it seems to work well, there is no odor in the room where the boxes are.

I use Fresh Step because of the paw print program. I just redeemed points for a free box not too long ago. Usually pick up a huge box at sam's and it lasts for 2 months here and I'm obsessed with a clean litter box and clean up daily and some days several times a day. Don't change litter that much, but when we clean also spray lysol around the box. How often should the litter be changed? She's our first kitty, we adopted her 3yrs ago this coming feb. I've had dogs all my life but had friends who had cats, so thats the only thing I wonder about.
