I wrote about two months ago becuase my 11 year old male cat would not pee in the litterbox in our new house (he did poop in it though). After a few episodes I tried moving it to a new spot and hey, it worked! He used it for the past two months with no problems -- then started peeing on the floor again a few days ago, in the bedroom and living room. I'll have him checked at the vet but I don't think it's a health problem. Any advice? He's acting perfectly fine otherwise, and my other cate, his female littermate, has no issues. Thanks.

Hi! I'm not nearly as well qulified to answer your question as othes here are, but since I'm here, I'll tell you what I know. The link at the top of our page that says Cat Members' Page has a lot of good cat advice, including your problem. Check it out.

And 2 things I know from a friend's experience: One of the first things a vet will tell you in this situation is that the rule is--1 litterbox for each cat, plus one extra. So if you have 2 cats, you should have 3 boxes if possible. You can put them in the cellar or anywhere they're out from under foot. And also, if you use scented litter, switch to unscented. A lot of cats don't like scented litter, even if they've previously tolerated it fine for years.

My friend made just these 2 changes & the problem went away. :) Good luck!

I'm sorry your cat isn't using the litter box again.
