My kitty has recently started to pull the fur from his front legs. Anyone know why?

Take your pick:

fleas
allergies
stress
dermatitis
dry skin (possibly caused by the heating in the house)
fungus infection

And about a dozen etceteras. Whenever one of my cats was doing this, it was almost always either fleas, stress or both. Fleas are easy to check for; stress requires some thinking about and remembering what's been happening in his life lately. Any changes to routine? The others usually mean a vet check, which might not be a bad idea anyway. Those little bald patches can get infected if he scratches at them.

I would go to the vet. Doesn't sound like ringworm or anything similiar. Probally needs an allergy shot or/and meds for this. Donna

Plucking can be caused by many things. I think you should go to the vet as everyone suggested. When I took my cat ( Honey) to the vet for her bald butt
