Low Fat Kitty Treats.... HELP!?!?!?

Hello everyone,

I have a dilemma that I need help with. After a bath and check-up the other day, Delali's vet told me that it would be best for her health if she lost a few pounds. I know what the problem is. I give her 8 or 9 treats per day and these things are NOT low in fat. I have cut them out but her little face when she DOESN'T get one just KILLS me! I don't want her thinking that she has done something wrong and not getting one. So, do any of you know of any low-fat kitty treats? Or homemade kitty treat recipes that are low in fat? Or I've heard that cats like iceberg lettuce? Know anything about that?

Please help!

Feed her smaller portions! If you feed her dry food, use a measuring cup. If you feed her wet food, use a measuring spoon. Stick to the same amounts. Also, try feeding her a high quality food that has meat as one of the primary ingredients, as opposed to corn or rice. Cats are carnivores and don't need the unnecessary carbohydrates! Low-fat isin't necessarily the answer for cats - a friend of mine's parents' cat is 22 lbs, and has been eating low-fat food for the past decade.

As for treats, try Medi-Treats, by Medi-Cal, if your vet carries them. It's a Canadian brand, so you may not be able to get them in the US. But they are very high quality, and even help with hairballs. They are perfectly safe even to give to a cat with FLUTD problems (like my Tasha). Hills may have something similar.
