I have been thinking about this for little Boy .. My mother told me tonight that she is going to do everything in her power to take him with us when and if we move .. Now she has a potential job in Denver we are going out there in a couple weeks to check it out ..

Anyway, how much would it cost to get him microchipped? I am afraid that he would get lost forever and I would not beable to find him .. my most horrid nightmare ..

You would have to call around to see what different vet's offices charge, they are all different... as a baseline, we charge $35 to implant the microchip and then you send in the paperwork with another fee of $13 to get him registered.

It just cost me $43 at my vets to microchip my kitten. I have to pay $12.50 enrollment fee with AKC Companion Animal Recovery to register her. Our Human Society does have scanners as well as many vet offices. Check with your vet to find out about which type of chip they use (like Cat suggested) and maybe you can even call the Denver Humane Society (or other shelters) to see what scanners they have. We have all 5 of our cats chipped just as a precaution if they would ever get outside. They don't wear collars since we have had problems with them causing permanent hair loss underneath.

Good luck!
