Misha -n- Thomie Update....

Yippee! I FINALLY got to speak with my vet on the phone today. I told her what the other vet had said about not adopting too many cats & not adopting females, etc. She agreed with me (& you) that it was the right decision to rescue Misha and that her being female doesn't make any difference in a household with all spayed cats. She said they'll accept her with time. I was happy that she also disagreed with the other vet regarding Thomie's situation. She said Misha should not have been blamed for Thomie's eye infection. Thomie wouldn't have had it that fast after just "meeting" Misha on Saturday. She could very well have gotten it due to stress. She said there are a whole lot of kitty colds going around and I could bring the virus in on my clothing for all we know. These things just happen & she said the eye drops I'm using are fine and I shouldn't need to bring Thomie in to see her unless she gets worse. (So far her eyes look a tiny bit better & she has no temp). She said I did not need to keep Thomie isolated (like we did last night) because the other cats have already been exposed to whatever she has, and they don't need the added stress of keeping some of the cats isolated. She said Misha did not need to be isolated, either, and that she shouldn't be contageous after all this time and after the meds she took. I will take Misha in on Friday for a check-up to see why her breathing is still congested. The vet said it's probably too soon to give her the rabies & other shots since she had a temp of 103 last night. She's not quite over this bug.

The good news is Boots & Patches are so far still healthy. They tend to run from Misha (or hiss & then run), but I just give them lots of attention to help ease the stress.

Dh is probably going to get surgery to correct his herniated disc. If his boss lets him, he's going to have it done a week from Friday. I will have to take time (unpaid) off work to help him for a week or so after that. I used up all my sick & vacation time caring for my parents earlier this year. I feel like I'm in the wrong profession....I should be a nurse/caretaker professionally since I've gotten all this experience this year....giggle!

I hope you are all having a good day today. I love reading about the funny exploits of your furbabies!

Take care & talk to you soon!

Evening Pink! I can't seem to get to bed at a reasonable hour. LOL!

Dh has all three older cats on our bed (instead of downstairs) so there's no room left for me....giggle! Boots was real upset over Misha tonight...growling and everything. I decided to let her calm down and I am in Misha's room with her now.

I typed a nice message to you and then the text got "lost" when I tried to post the message! I am trying to remember everything.

That must have been some stress having your mom & brother with an operation on the same day! I do hope they're both recovered by now. They're lucky to have had you there :-)

The closest I've come to that was in March my dad needed an emergency hernia operation and 2 days later my mom joined him in the hospital since she needed surgery for a compression fracture of her spine. (My poor mom has osteoporosis and had to have hip replacement surgery last January, she broke her wrist in February, had the compression fracture in March. I forget now what April was....and in May my dad had atrial firbrillation and had to be hospitalized. June was the first month where I didn't have to make a trip to the emergency room. I can laugh about it now....but boy do I never want to go through that again! LOL) I guess I could say June/July I've been caring for sick furbabies & preparing for dh to have back surgery. This is quite the year, isn't it? I am very blessed that I have had no health problems of my own. I would much rather care for others than have to deal with illness myself.

I would be happy to see your reptile quiz....see you there!

Good night!

Thank you Jane! You are so right about hubby's being harder to care for...Giggle!

The girls seem to be getting better. I will be glad to see what the vet says when I take Misha in tomorrow.

I need to take your advice and get more rest. It's really catching up with me. I'll take a nice nap with the furbabies when I get home :-)

Hugs,

Suzy

I am so happy to hear that everyone is on the mend at your house. I will keep your dh in my prayers for his surgery.

Thank you Tami! Your wonderful thoughts & prayers help so much :-)

Now if I could just get the girls to stop hissing....giggle! Misha keeps chasing the older cats around....oh boy!

Hugs,

Suzy
