Misha (Salty) Update for Friday...

I am so happy Misha is eating more & drinking more too! It's definitely an improvement over the past 48 hours. Maybe it's the liquid medicine I'm giving her? I took her to the vets again today but she was so busy I didn't get to talk to her. Her assistant weighed her & she's back up to 6.3 lb...yeah! Her temp was normal & she got some more injectable fluids as a precaution. Now she's back home snoozing away. She had some diarrhea, but that's probably due to all the antibiotics she's on. I hope she gets better over the weekend so maybe I can FINALLY let her out of isolation. (Thomie keeps crying at the door....she want to meet her new sister!) I have to keep wiping the goop from her eyes. I guess that's drainage from her URI. She's "talking" more today, which is a good sign. I told her you are all asking about her & are praying & sending hugs, kisses, etc. She purred at that!

I have housework to do now....oh joy. I will let my furbabies sleep for awhile.

Have a wonderful evening!

Suzy

Oh, that IS good news. I don't always post on your updates, but I've been following them and certainly pulling for her (and you.)

I'm glad misha is getting better. I had written earlier about my stray kitten getting sick like that. Took almost 5 weeks of med to get her well. Also wrote where she was a little better, then she slept with us under the ceiling fan, and she woke up sicker. I felt so guilty. Thank goodness she seems well now. I held my breath for 5 weeks because she would go up and down on her upper resp. sickness. The vet said it was hard to get rid of. I've never had a cat stay that sick for that long before. Just be careful with her. Thank goodness you're the one who adopted her and had the sense and caring to take her for treatment. A shelter nearby had an upper resp. thing go through the cats. Some cats died from it. I don't know how well they medically treated them. I can just imagine a room full of cats passing it back and forth. How sad. The two kittens I had adopted, got out of there just in time. donna

Thanks for telling me about your kitten Donna. It helps to know others have been through this. It is frustrating to see them go up & down, isn't it? Misha's appetite is better, but I'm very worried about giving her the prednisolone. I've read horrible side effects it causes including suppressing the immune system. I am calling the vet to see about discontinuing it. I think 3 days were enough. I want her immune system to work hard to fight her URI. Did your vet have you give your kitten this medication at any time during her illness?

Bless your heart for adopting those two lucky kittens! I hope they are now doing very well. :-)

The URI at the Humane Society here must've been bad since poor Misha was only there a week but couldn't avoid it. I guess it doesn't take much for those nasty bugs to spread.
