I spent most of the weekend at home. Had a root canal done on Friday (relatively painless!). Did a little grocery shopping on Saturday. Spent the rest of the time hanging with DH and Zipper Cat.
Our weekend was okay, nothing out of the ordinary. It's still too early in the season for good garage sales, unfortunately. Saturday's two were so very lame. ;)
Woke up this morning and realised today's date is March 7th. It's been six months exactly since I lost my baby Kat. I've never grieved so long or so much for anyone ever before. At least I'm finally able to function again ... mostly thanks to Jackie, who is a great deal like Katherine. I'm still stunned to think there's ANY cat out there who is the tiniest bit like her. If I were the superstitious sort, I'd be convinced that Kat led me to find Jackie.
Last week I won third place in an essay contest. The subject was "My favourite James Herriot story"; I wrote about the man who took the news of his dog's terminal illness very stoically, making the perfectly rational decision to put him down before his suffering increased any more ... then went home and shot himself. In my essay I said that for the first time I really understood WHY. It occurs to me belatedly that that's far too personal a thing to write in a public essay, and that sort of thing makes most people incredibly uncomfortable. It may be here, as well, but at least it's on topic. Still trying to decide if I ought to go and apologise to the group....
