We adopted a 5 yr old cat last year and of course promised to keep him and never let him go back to a shelter. BUT...he hates my 2 yr old....no matter what I do my 2 yr old picks at him and this has been going on for a logn time. Sits on him, pulls his tail. We've tried everything to repremand him and teach him to be gentle to the cat butit's just not working and the poor kitty ( Jack) spends all day in our bedroom and only comes out at nap time and bed time. We keep his food and water in our master bathroom and when he needs to use the litter box he makes sure he is not seen by the 2 yr old.

Jack is a very loving and affectionate cat who would love to sit on someone's lap all night being pet. He does not get that here.

I have someone who is intertested in him but am having a hard time saying yes. She is an older woman who is single with no kids. Perfect for Jack.

I think it is better for him to go with her but at the same time I am having a hard time letting him go since he's such a nice kitty.

If Ikeep him I am being selfish, right? At the same time I feel like I give him away I am not keeping my promise to him which is selfish too, if that makes sense.

What should I do????

I agree about giving Jack to the lady. Later on when your son is older, you can get another kitty and make him understand to be kind to animals. I have a baby now and a beloved, and I'm hoping he doesn't do the same. They just don't understand. Maybe you can have visiting rights to Jack...

I agree with Leslie, let the lady have him with promises. I have children but still do not see why your child will not leave him alone. That poor kitty!!!!!
