Yesterday we brought home a 9 week Papillon puppy. Miss Kitty is 4. She is very timid and hides when strangers visit or anything exciting happens. She has been an only pet since we lost our 13 year old Pom about 1 1/2 yrs. ago. She loved the Pom and was raised up with him from the time she was 5 weeks old. Needless to say, even though the puppy is confined she is a very unhappy Puss. I've tried to pay her special attention though she doesnt want to play and lets me pet her but says "hiss" even to me. She hid under the bed yesterday evening but has seemed to calm some today. How long does this normally last in a timid cat? We wanted the puppy to be a good thing for all of us. I hate it that she is upset - though I am not suprised.

thanks

I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CATS AND PUPPYS AND FULL GROWN DOGS IT JUST TAKES TIME. YOUR CAT WELL COME AROUND BUT MAKE SURE THAT THE PUPPY DOSE NOT HURT THE CAT OR THE CAT HURT THE POPPY.

I NEVER AT FIRST LEAVE THEM ALONG TO GETHER BUT PLAY WITH BOTH OF THEM AND TRY TO GET THEM TOGETHER IN THE SAME ROOM. IT JUST TAKES TIME AND SOMETIMES CATS JUST LEARN TO AVOID THE DOG BUT THEY DO GET ALONG. GOOD LUCK JOANN
