Now my Patches is sick....

I got home from work and noticed Patches having symptoms very similar to what Boots had last September. She's trying to meow but has no voice, and she's ocassionally getting the dry heaves. I'm thinking it's likely that Pharyngitis. My vets office was closed early so now I'm stuck probably taking her to an animal hospital so I can get her some antibiotics. Boots had taken Baytril for 10 days. I have about a week's worth of leftover Clavamox in the house, but I don't know if that works the same as Baytril for throat infections. I wish I could give her Clavamox until my vet's back in the office Friday, but I don't want to do something wrong. Do you think I should just take her to the hospital tonight and get her the Baytril? I'm afraid now that this must be contagious.....I pray Misha & Meezer & Thomie don't get it since Patches has been all over the house lately. I wonder if I need to keep her isolated maybe here in our bedroom where I can see if she's eating & drinking?
One day all my cats (hopefully) will be healthy!
Hugs,

I would call the Vet and ask if you could start Patches on the medicine that you have.
Oh no! I'm sorry she isn't feeling well. I hope that she is ok.
Hugs and prayers!
Oh no {{{{Suzy}}}}, not again.
Thank you so much Jane for your healing thoughts & prayers. I followed your advice and we called our vet on her cell phone (hoping she wouldn't be mad that we interrupted her at home). She was nice and said that we could indeed give Patches the Clavamox we had on hand and to bring her in on Friday morning so she could check her and get us some more medicine. Since she's such a big kitty we have to give her 1 1/2 pills twice a day. We just gave her the first dose tonight with dinner. (We gave her canned food since it hurts her throat less to eat something soft). I took her temp and it was nearly 102. (The high end of normal for a cat). I forgot to ask, but as a precaution I'm keeping Patches separated here with us in our bedroom and she has a litter box and water & food dishes in the bathroom adjoining. I fear the other cats could possibly catch this so I'm trying very hard to be careful. I have no idea where they got this from in the first place. A real mystery! The one thing that's a bit better than when Boots had this is that Patches has more of an appetite and is drinking a little water. Boots hardly ate or drank when she was sick.
I went to work today but I still have the coughing from this bronchitis. My headache was at least a bit better today and I don't have a temp. I am really looking forward to the long weekend! I will keep you posted on how things go with Patches on Friday at the vets.
Sweet Dreams!
Thank you so very much sweetie....I still just love that beautiful photo of ^Molly^!
Hugs,
Thank you so much Leslie for your healing thoughts & prayers. I did like you & Jane suggested and called the vet and she said I could give her the Clavamox until I bring her in on Friday morning. She's staying in our room alone with us so she hopefully won't give this to any of the other cats. I have no idea where they got this from....it's real strange that Boots had it in late September and Patches is just now getting it too.
Patches is normally such a vocal kitty, and I can tell it's frustrating for her to have lost her voice. Hopefully the meds will make her feel better within a few days.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Hugs,
Thank you so much Chris! I did call and found out I can give her Clavamox in the meantime until the vet can see her on Friday morning. I worry about Patches because she sometimes wheezes as if she has asthma and I don't want this infection to affect her breathing even more.
Hugs,
I hope Patches starts to feel better soon!
You might have noticed Patches was sick in an earlier stage than Boots so she might get better faster getting the antibiotics quickly.
