Pee Problems

I have 5 cats and one of them Gracie seems to have a problem with not using the litter box. Instead she urinates on the furniture the floor and kitchen counters. I have 2 litter boxes in my home in two diffrent locations. Since I am a full time student the only chance I have of scooping is in the morning before I leave and in the afternoon when I get home and again before I go to bed at night. Night however, seems to be the time when she feels the need to pee in every spot but the litter box and when I get up in the morning I alwyas have a surprise waiting for me in the Kitchen on the counters and have to clean it up with bleach or amonia. I change both litter boxes at the end of every week so I don't know what the problem is.

Any suggestions?

Thnaks for the advice. After talking to a family vet about Gracie's urine problems and the bevahoirs she has had he came to the conclusion that Gracie does not have any type of infection or anything else for that matter. This news got me to thinking, back to when I got her. Gracie is a laid back cat who pretty much likes everyone she meets. However, there have and still are problems between Gracie and my older cat Pinky who is the dominant female in my house. Not only is the peeing a problem but every time they get into it, Gracie goes up stairs and ((poops)) right in front of my door. I try to at least keep them in seperate parts of the house which isn't working out so well. But I guess it will have to do for now because I have problem with another cat of mine Grayson.

I have had Grayson for almost 10 years. He has been fixed for about 9 years and has really put on the pounds. He is half siamese and half bermese. I can understand a male cat howling and meowing all the time when he isn't fixed but with Grayson it's chronic. I'm not sure why he does it and when I sent him back to the vet nothing was found. I'm not sure if it's because I've spolied him to the point where he wants me to stay at home instead of leaving or if he is just an overly-affectionate cat who wants a lot of lovin. It's weird however, that I have noticed that he never really plays with the other cats but everytime I leave him to play with his stuffed toy his fine. There's no howling or meowing at all. I love all of my cats but I'm stuck in the mud.

Any advice on these situations would be greatly welcomed! Thanks

I find it difficult to understand how your vet can determine that Gracie does not have a urinary tract infection if he/she has not

You still need to get the vet a pee sample. Testing it

technically you are supposed to have one litter box per cat. i know it sounds crazy but it really is true....

however, i assume gracie is not the newest addition to you family. how new is the newest cat? if it was within the last year(of when her problems began), the new member is probably the problem. female cats are very picky.

another suggestion, if she is peeing in plants, cover the dirt with plastic or aluminum foil cats dont like that stuff..

also i would recommend a trip to the vet, she could have a medical problem like a urinary tract infection.
