WE have a beautiful, sweet orange & white striped tabby.

We had guests over for dinner recently. The woman, as soon as she walked in our door, said to me "get that cat away from me. I HATE cats".

I feel it was rude. She could have said "I don't LIKE cats", not "I HATE cats". I just took it very personally. If you are a guest in someone's home, do you make a statement like that?

How rude! I’ve had people tell me they are afraid of cats or allegoric to cats but never HATE. Then again, anyone who knows me knows how much of a cat lover I am and would never say something like that to me. I find that when people are afraid, those are the people Zoë will want to hang around. If someone tries to play with her she has little time for them. But if they are standoffish she will rub up against them and hang around them until they want to hold her. By then, she’s lost interest in them. :) I don’t understand people who don’t like cats. Cats are so funny, independent and inquisitive. Of course I must tell guests that only monkeys and chimps have more intelligence than cats.
