Pregnant stray question...please help!

Hello all, I could use your infinite kitty wisdom right about now...

I have a pregnant stray that has adopted my family. She's been around for almost two months, and she's going to pop any day now.

My predicament is setting up a place for her to have her kittens- she spends 95% of her time in our backyard, she's quickly become a lap kitty, and she seems as attached to us as we have become to her.

I would like to give her some places here to have the babies so she doesn't run off and have them somewhere else. I set up a box for her in the detached garage and keep the door cracked so she can go in, but she never seems too interested in it. I thought about moving her food and water in there so she might be more apt to check it out, but is that a good idea?

She keeps trying to come in the house, but we have 3 indoor cats, and don't feel it would be a good idea for her to come in. I've considered setting up space for her in our spare room and just keeping her in there until she has them, but again, that doesn't seem fair to her.

Any ideas? What would you do?

Thanks in advance!!

That is so great of you. I would move the food by the bed so then after the kitties are born she will also be close to it.Is there any chance you can take her to the vet and get her fixed and then keep her or otherwise her and her kitties have no chance

Thanks for the input! I appreciate it. :)

We plan on getting her fixed after the kittens are weaned. We actually have homes for a couple of them already- they're not even here yet, LOL! There are quite a few strays in our neighborhood, so fixing her is a must. :)

IF YOU CAN PUT HER IN THE SPARE ROOM AND KEEP THE DOOR SHOT THE OTHER CATS WELL GET USED TO HER SMELL AND IT MIGHT BE EASYER LATER TO BRING THEM TOGETHER. SHE WELL COME IT HEAT AGAIN WITH IN A FEW WEEKS OF HAVEING HER KITTENS. THATS VERY GOOD OF YOU TO TAKE HER IN.GOOD LUCK AND LET US KNOW HOW IT GOES. JOANN

Thanks again for the advice.
We have no plans to introduce her to the inside kitties, she'll remain an outdoor cat, so i've scrapped the spare room idea. She wouldn't be happy cooped up in a little room, and it would stress out all of the kitties. It took the better part of a year to get the three I have to get along, and between the hair and the litter boxes, three is almost too much for me to keep up with so adding a 4th is not really feasible.

I'm not too worried about her safety as an outdoor cat, as she hasn't ventured far since she showed up a few months ago. I would love to take her inside, as she is the sweetest thing on the planet, but I just can't, so I will provide for her as well as I can with her being outdoors.

I introduced her to the box we made up for her, and she freely went in it and hung out for a bit. I also moved her food and water into the garage so she gets used to going in there. Now i'm just keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes well....

Thanks again. :)
