Hello,
I am a regular on iVillage but I have never been here before. I was hoping that someone might have some advice for me...
I have an almost 2 year old male cat that was just recently neutered. He is an inside cat and had never really thought about neutering him before. Well recently he had been marking his territory a little. Not a lot mind you, I just "discovered" that he had a couple times. Well when I decided to get him declawed I decided to have him neutered as well. Well since picking him up from the vet on Tuesday he has been peeing EVERYWHERE!!! I just got home from work a little bit ago and he climbed up on my lap and peed on ME!! I put him in his litter box, told him no and changed my clothes and cleaned up. About 5 minutes later he climbed back up on my lap I assumed to make amends and he peed on me AGAIN!!
I cannot having him peeing everywhere! Any advice??
Thank you!

*WELCOME* to Cats!
I know there's nothing you can do about it now, but your little guy might be upset about his declawing. This "surgery" is very traumatic to cats. It's like, cutting off OUR fingernails at the knuckle. You would take a while to get sorted out too, wouldn't you?
Cats actually experience a lot less chance of getting a UTI once they are neutered, so, I'm not sure this is it. Is he crying out when he does urinate? Or exhibit other signs of discomfort?
My guess would be that he's out of sorts due to two life-changing procedures done at the same time. Especially with taking so long to get him neutered. It's always best to have it done around 6 months of age--before they reach maturity--to minimize sexual behaviour like spraying.
That is actually not true.
Hi Crystal.
First of all, thank you to everyone who responded, I definitely appreciate your help.
Also, to answer one question-he is squatting and peeing.
I will contact my vet first thing in the morning and I will keep you posted.
Thanks so much!
