Hello! My name is Sarah and I'm owned by 3 cats (and I have a dog, and 2 kids, soon to be 3). My cats are indoor only, and very well adjusted. We just moved about 4 months ago (when two became indoor only, 3rd already was). They all use the litter box just fine, get plenty of love and attention, and just generally are spoiled rotten. Even the kids are so wonderful with them, always playing and petting gently, and they do the majority of the feeding and watering too (with lots of supervision, of course).
Anyhow, Jasper, who is the baby of the family at 1.5 years or so (neutered male cat) scratches around his food bowls a few times a week, like he's trying to bury his food. He eats just fine, in fact, usually he scratches after he's eaten. The food bowl is in the kitchen, on a mat.

Hi Sarah.
Thank you so much for your answer! It did not seem like it was bothering him too much, but I just thought it was odd, and wondered what was going through his little cat mind, lol! I'm glad I asked, and did not try to change things around and such.
We are such a cat family it is ridiculous. Jasper sleeps on DH most nights, and if not on him then definitely by his feet, and often there are at least two cats in our bed. Loki, our absolutely gorgeous all black-haired boy, will jump on the counters and 'meow' at anyone in the kitchen, and if they ignore him, he'll reach out and grab their shirt with a claw, just so they will pet him (non cat people REALLY don't like that, lol). Then we have our princess, Miss Tuesday. What can I say about royalty, except that I am honored she allows us to continue to serve her? Really she is a beautiful, sweet girl.
It sounds like your kitties have you wrapped around their little paws. lol
