Question re: Feliaway

Hi,
I posted a while back regarding my kitten urinating on my family room carpet. Since that time he's been neutered and was put on an antibiotic (vet trying to rule out a UTI). He's still doing it. It's been determined that it's behavioral.
I've heard about Feliaway (not sure if that's spelled right) and was wondering if anyone has used it and if so does it really work? I tried Nature's Miracle as well as several other products including a pet repellent spray (a safe one of course) and it hasn't helped. I'm at my wit's end w/this problem and would appreciate any suggestions.
Pam

Feliway is a good product and it now even comes in a diffuser that you can plug in (you need to put it in the room where he is urinating) with refills so that it's constantly releasing the pheramones.
Did the vet actually test his urine for a FLUTD?
Hi Lauren,
Thanks for your advice.
I have used Nature's Miracle (several bottles in fact) on the areas where he urinated. He still keeps on going on those areas, and recently on several new areas as well.
I'm going to order Feliaway and hope that it works. I did think of the 2nd litter box but the problem is, there isn't one particular area in the family roomt that he goes but rather there are several. My husband is sure to keep the litter box clean and changes the litter frequently.
Thanks again,
Pam
Hi Leslie,
I'm not sure if his vet tested him for FLUTD. What is that exactly?
The vet did mention medication such as Prozac that he may end up prescribing for him. I'm suppose to take in another urine sample to him first to further help determine the cause. I've been unable so far to get a sample.
I have used Nature's Miracle but it hasn't helped much yet. I've used about 3 bottles so far! I may have to try the syringe and needle trick that you mentioned. I'm sure it's all embedded in the carpet and padding at this point.
I do have one other cat but he hasn't been bothering him. I have noticed the kitten recently using the litter box to urinate so it seems he does go there when he wants to.
Thanks for your advice.
Pam
You may also want to try not just another litterbox, but maybe a different litter. If you use regular clay litter, switch to the scoopable kind. If you use scoopable switch to regular or try the other types of litter. Also some cats HATE scented litter. You would be amazed at how many times I have seen just changing the litter work.
I volunteer at an animal rescue group and we use feliway in the "boys" room, which has 11 unneutered male cats in it. (They will be neutered before being adopted.) The feliway seems to have stopped some of them from spraying but not all of them BUT it also seems to keep them calmer and not as many fights happen...even though for that many intact males in one room, they get along amazingly well. The difference with the feliway is very noticable and I am going to purchase it and try it in my house because I too have a male cat that has behavioural peeing problems.
GOOD LUCK.
Hi Pam,
It sounds liek you need to buy stock in Nature's Miracle too! lol
